Ramadan Brings Fasting, Prayer, and Charity

NORWOOD, Colo. – In the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which this year falls in March, Muslims around the world celebrate and honor Ramadan with fasting, prayer, and charity.

Tabassum Siddiqui, a community member, activist, and organizer, is Afro-Indigenous and Muslim. This year, she is observing Ramadan with her husband in the rural town of Norwood, Colorado. Siddiqui spoke with KOTO’s Julia Caulfield about the importance of Ramadan and what the month means to her.
