Bootsie’s Bops – New Music for the Week of July 7th, 2026

July 7, 2026

A person wearing sunglasses and a gold jacket is playing drums and singing into a microphone, debuting new music from Bootsie's Bops, set to release in July 2026.

Here’s some new singles worth a spin for the week(ish) of July 7th, 2026. This week, I’m feeling the summery vibes of an evening by the poolside. Set me up with a cold beverage and a lounge chair facing the western sunset and leave me to chill.

As always, I’m embedding links to the Big S, but please find and buy music directly from artists when you can!

1. Karate Boogaloo – “Booger’s Bounce of Joy”

Music is a team sport, and there’s no I in FUNK. That’s the hook from the PR email that tempted me to hit play on this new single from Australian jazz-funk outfit Karate Boogaloo. Their debut album Hold Your Horses sold out all its vinyl pressings, so go ahead and pre-order their next record – Access All Areas – on Colemine Records.

2. Benny Sings – “Parachute”

Dutch pop songwriter & producer Tim van Berkestijn, aka Benny Sings, is teasing an album release slated for late September on Stones Throw Records, and this bouncy pop single hit my inbox. There’s something about maudlin lyrics over a bright, bopping beat that tickles me, and after hearing this song once I couldn’t stop singing “pa-pa-pa-parachute.”

3. Kelly Finnigan – “The Hurting Truth”

Prolific soul psychedelia artist (see: Monophonics) and Colemine Records staple, Kelly Finnigan is expanding his recorded music canon with his next album, B-Sides, Singles and Forgotten Gems. “The Hurting Truth” is one of those gems – recorded with fellow Colemine artist Jimmy James (Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, Parlor Greens) on bass and guitars – and a perfect teaser for Finnigan’s latest collection of sweaty, soulful songs.
