How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse: N3’s Latest Production<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NORWOOD, Colo.\u2014 Fighting zombies takes strategy, and the latest production by N Cubed Theater, \u201c10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse,\u201d offers comedic insights into battling the undead. Whether it\u2019s running fast, joining their ranks, or romancing them, the play promises to entertain audiences with its unconventional methods of survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The production, staged by Brock Benson, is the eighth theatrical endeavor for the West End-based N Cubed Theater. Benson, owner of Paradox Cycle in Naturita, is a community leader balancing his passion for cycling, youth development, and theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cN Cubed is the evolution of the theater program I wanted to start at Nucla High School,\u201d Benson said. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to teach full time and run a business, so we evolved to agree I can do theater in the offseason when my Paradox bike shop isn\u2019t so busy. This way, we can include Nucla and Norwood kids.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eight students from the West End, ranging in age from 11 to 18, are featured in the production. After their final rehearsal on March 12, Benson praised the cast, encouraging them to maintain high energy and perfect their timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m super impressed,\u201d Benson told the students. \u201cThe lights and the vibe are coming in hot, so match that energy. Speak slow and loud enough so every word is heard, but pick up those cues. When it stops, it\u2019s like a school bus drives through the building.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The play, an idea spearheaded by stage manager Liza Tanguay, blends fantasy and comedy, exploring the chaos of a world overrun by zombies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re here to present a public service to you\u2014the audience,\u201d one actor announced during the rehearsal. \u201cHow to survive when civilization collapses and the animated corpses of your neighbors try to hunt you down.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benson, who holds an MFA in Acting and Directing from Colorado Mesa University, believes in the transformative power of theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTheater is the most important because it gives kids a voice, confidence in their identity, and the ability to empathize,\u201d Benson said. \u201cIt\u2019s the human experience, and we need to make sure our kids are having that, not just the academic experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rehearsal featured full costumes, custom soundtracks, and even live music, setting the stage for a lively performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The show opens Thursday at the Livery in Norwood and runs through Saturday, March 15. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with performances starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for those under 18.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
