ANNOUNCEMENT: Western society in general and our Mountain Communities in
particular suffer from statistically high rates of psycho emotional illness. Depression and anxiety
can combine with addiction and isolation to eventually manifest as psycho emotional disease
and ultimately suicide.

In small communities, we perhaps feel it more acutely because we are close knit and intimate,
but the numbers show that per capita suicide rates are factually higher in Telluride and similar
mountain communities than the national average. Most of us in Telluride mourn someone we
lost and worry about someone who’s at risk. Most of us can think of someone who passed away
especially during off-season, whether it was overt suicide or alcohol and drugs, in automobiles,
mountain mishaps or bizarre combinations of the above.

Statistically, these casualties occur more often during off-season. At Medicine Ranch, we are
over it! We are so done with what we call, “OFF SEASON! ” With the pun unfortunately
intended.

Join us Thursday, May 21 at the Medicine Ranch shop and clinic for a powerful presentation on
mental health in the mountains. You can hold Josh to 30 minutes on the keynote lecture
because that presentation is intended to prime the pump for a lively and perhaps life-saving
discussion to follow. This will all be backed up by Information on how you can plug into various
ways for us all to take action and truly take care of each other.”
