The Town of Mountain Village is offering a free electronics recycling event on Monday, July 27, and Tuesday, July 28, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Meadows Parking Lot.

The event is designed to give the community a convenient way to keep electronic waste out of landfills while ensuring devices and batteries are handled properly. Residents are encouraged to clear out old or unused electronics and drop them off during the two-day collection window.

A wide range of electronic items will be accepted, including old computers, televisions and household appliances. Residents are also invited to bring in batteries for recycling, though only certain types and sizes will be accepted.

Batteries accepted include:

  • 9-volt batteries

  • AA batteries

  • AAA batteries

  • Alkaline batteries

  • C batteries

  • D batteries

  • Drycell batteries

  • Iron batteries

  • Lithium and lithium-ion batteries, small to medium sized (spent battery limit: 25g/300Wh; spent cell limit: 5g/60Wh)

Large lithium-ion batteries, large rechargeable batteries, car batteries and other battery types will not be accepted at this event.

“It is illegal in Colorado to put e-waste and lead-acid batteries in the trash. Proper electronics disposal helps prevent hazardous materials from entering the waste stream and supports the recovery of valuable materials for reuse,” said the Town’s Sustainability and Grant Projects Manager Lauren Kirn. “We are excited to offer this opportunity for our residents to responsibly dispose of these materials.”

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this free opportunity to recycle their electronics responsibly. The event will run  Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Meadows Parking Lot.
