Monday, May 26 is the day we honor those who have sacrificed their lives for our country. We will also be honoring departed Telluride Elks Lodge members who are buried in the Lone Tree Cemetery.

Telluride Elks members are asked to gather at the Lone Tree Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. to assist in placing Elks Memoriam Flags on the graves of our absent members.

New members are especially encouraged to attend, as this is a good time to listen to the stories of passed members, as recalled by those who have also learned of them during the events in the past.

At 11 a.m., the American Legion Post will conduct a memorial day ceremony, honoring veterans who have died in service to our country. The American Legion will also honor recently deceased Legion members, Dick Unruh, who has for the past decade or so, been the Master of Ceremonies, as well as Richard “Red” Brown, who constructed the Veterans bench as a memorial to his brother, who was killed in a helicopter crash while serving in the U.S. Army.

Former Telluride  St. Patrick’s Church’s Deacon Mike Doerhman will conduct the prayer services.

All those in attendance will be invited to a special lunch to be held at the Telluride Elks Lodge.
